Front cover developments

Prototype of front cover

I've started to devolp my other idea for my front cover, ive used these two images to try out my idea and to see if the ripped effect would work. I wanted to make the rips messy but still look professional. I've decided to not use the male model shaib i am going to use a another male model that contrasts with image of my female model, i want the male model to look more like my target audience. my male target user is a white middle class to working class that has a beard and dresses similar to my female target user, so in my next photo shot i will have my model with these  conventions.

Ive decided to have this distinctive front cover because it relates to my magazines genre because my target user is usally interested in arty music magazines with interesting images. Also the tron front cover relates to my tittle which is "Kazuko" this is a Japanese word and japan is well known for paper origami and the rips in my front cover image conveys this. And my target audience are interested in the Japanese culture.

Front cover inspirations

This is the inspiration for my front cover i like the uniqueness of this front cover it looks creative and intriguing to look at, the front cover uses two contrasting images and  collages them together making the image more eye catching. Also both images are different shot types one is a extreme close up the other is a close the emphasis the contrast in the images, however  both images have a direct mode of address this makes the target user feel more involved.

Photoshoot 2

My models hand gestures around her head is conventional for most female models in magazines. The direct mode of address makes the audience feel more involved. The leaves around her makes the image look unusual from other magazines,

In this medium/ close up my model is on the floor her hair color is blending in with the grass,  this conveys my target audience because they usually have dyed hair in bright colors like green, pink and blue. So this represents them and the nature feel of the picture coneys hipsters and the setting that they hang around with their friends.

These two images are the potential images that i may use for my contents page.

Planning of photoshoot

Location: Haggerston park
Model: shr-nai- 17 years old
               Occupation: full time education
                Ethnicity: mixed race

This is the outfit my model is wearing for the photo shoot I wanted her to have the typical “hipster” look because it appeals to my target user. She is wearing dungarees with  a bright crop top underneath this makes her outfit contrast my natural nature setting and the dungarees gives a old vintage look this is juxtaposed by her t shirt and the checked shirt she has around her waist, this gives the outfit a modern twist.

The shirt she has around her waist is a fashion trend in indie pop audiences and I wanted my magazine to follow some of their conventions so it would give them a sense of personal identity.  My model will also wear converse shoes because these shoes are popular in indie pop audiences and my target user can relate because these are the shoes they normally purchase.

Props:
Vintage turban hat- This hat looks quirky and distinctive and this represents target users sense of style, when i researched the kind of hats and headbands my target user wears this was one of them.

Retro Sunglasses-  This glasses are very old fashioned but its recently become popular for hipsters and I’ve seen some indie pop magazines with models wearing these type of glasses this is where i got the inspiration for using it as a prop.
